Our Practitioner Advanced Diploma Course is designed for anyone interested in becoming a professional homeopath. Our highly regarded programme instills the expertise and knowledge to become a confident and successful homeopath.
During the course you will
continue to develop many of the concepts learnt in the
General Diploma Course and
Homeopathy in Practice Course but with the
emphasis on increasing your skills in case receiving, analysis
and prescription, to prepare you for practice. Various
approaches are given to help you unravel cases, such as group
classifications and elemental archetypes. We encourage the use
of creative ideas such as these as they often tell us as much
about ourselves as they do about the subjects being studied, and
they are invaluable tools for finding effective remedies.
Advanced Practitioner Diploma
Course
topics include taking
the case and prescribing for babies and children; treatment of
chronic cases; dosage and repetition; assessment of response to
the first prescription; the second prescription; prognosis;
prescribing for acute flare-ups during constitutional treatment;
long-term case-management; understanding symptoms with reference
to the constitution of the patient and her/his relationship to
the four temperaments; use of language, symbolism and imagery,
plus new methodologies and new provings of remedies as they
arise during casework.
You
will also gain an understanding from the grouping of remedies
into categories that include:
|
~
therapeutic indication |
|
~
remedy relationship (such as
complementary or inimical) |
| ~ familial relationships (such as specific plant or animal genus) |
|
~ the
Sankaran schema |
|
~
mineral compounds group analysis |
|
~ the
periodic table of elements (as taught by Jan Scholten) |
|
~
Elemental groupings – the four
temperaments and the Mappa Mundi |
| ~ Research in Homeopathy |
Clinical observation and case-work under supervision is the
crucial aspect of the Practitioner Advanced Diploma and your
development as a homeopath. Under supervision, you take at least
ten cases with follow-ups over a period of at least 18 months.
During this time you work closely with your supervising
practitioner.
You
and your supervisor will undertake a thorough and progressive
evaluation of your skills, an important part of which will be
your own reflection of what is being learned from each
case-taking and about your practice.
These
cases, their follow-ups and ongoing prescriptions, will be
assessed regularly and then again as a complete case portfolio
at the end of your study. By demonstrating professional
competence and appropriate academic standards you will complete
the School’s Practitioner Advanced Diploma.
Study method:
Home
study or attendance:
You have the option of doing the course by
home study or attendance. Clinical internship, Provings
and Business and Marketing program are residential only.
Attendance
Following on from the Homeopathy into
Practice Course.
Time: 2 Years (4 years + 1year study period given) with the
option of a one year extension in supervised practise.
Study: 10 School study weekends with assignments (plus one or
two extra if you opt for the extra year), 20 clinic days,
case-work under supervision with presentation of clinical
portfolio and undertaking a proving.
Attendance Provings
During the attendance course you will embark on a homeopathic
group ‘proving’ of an unknown remedy. Analysis of the
experiences leads to the birth of a new remedy, because we are
the living instruments through which it expresses its healing
powers. The results of our endeavours are regularly published
and comprise a growing library of additional information in
homeopathic materia medica. Participation in provings also
develops skills of perception and personal process, and deepens
our understanding of homeopathic philosophy and methodology.
All
home study students are welcome to join attendance course School
weekend sessions by prior arrangement.

The
Advanced Homeopathy- Practitioner Program
provides a solid preparation for the professional practice of
homeopathic medicine. It is based on a firm academic and
practical foundation using the fundamental principles and
philosophy of homeopathic medicine.
This program is responsive to changes in the clinical
environment, the business of health care, health care systems
and characteristics of populations to be served. The curriculum
is designed to enable students to demonstrate the knowledge,
skills and attitudes necessary to meet the educational learning
objectives of the program and the career in which they are being
prepared for. Clinical training is integrated fully into the
program and includes extensive participation in the BIH Student
clinics, mentorship as well as supervision. Professionalism and
humanism are the hallmarks of the programs as they are designed
to foster the sense of students as members of a learning
community and members of the homeopathic profession.
A specific and
thorough attention is given
in particular to Human Sciences and to homeopathic integration
to Allopathic Medicine. Homeopathy is in fact a holistic,
alternative and complementary medicine. It is holistic meaning
that it considers each individual in his totality
(mind-emotion-physical entity); it is alternative because its
approach is alternative to the allopathic approach but at the
same time it’s complementary because very often it can be used
alongside conventional or allopathic treatments.
